Born in the heart of East New York, Brooklyn, Bernard Totten has over 10 years of experience working with youth in the human services field. Since 2012, Mr. Totten has served as Project Manager and Facilitator for the New York City Urban Ambassadors, a New York City college and career readiness program for young men of color.
Prior to working with the New York City Urban Ambassadors, Bernard Totten served as a Teaching Assistant at The Ivy Mount School of Exceptional Children, teaching the ABA Method for autistic students. Additionally, Mr. Totten Juvenile Justice System at Boys & Girls Town of America, advising youth 17-21 at Young Adult Borough Center (YABC) at South Shore Educational Campus.
Outside of the classroom, Bernard Totten has successfully developed, managed and secured partnerships with community organizations, colleges and universities, local businesses and Fortune 500 companies.
Bernard Totten graduated from SUNY Empire State College with a Bachelors of Management and Economics. In the spring of 2017, Mr. Totten will join the talented folks at General Assembly, where he will develop his love of teaching into creating educational technology for children and educators.
